Heghine Khachatryan: Measuring the Human Impact of Gene Therapy on the Hemophilia
Heghine Khachatryan, Editor-in-Chief of Hemostasis Today, Head of Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center at Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Cedric Hermans et al, published in Haemophilia, adding:
“A very thoughtful and patient-centered study published in Haemophilia, exploring the impact of gene therapy beyond traditional clinical outcomes.
The concept of a ‘haemophilia-free mind’ is particularly meaningful.
Successful treatment is not only about reducing bleeding or achieving higher factor levels, but also about reducing the constant mental and practical burden of living with haemophilia.
Congratulations to Cedric Hermans and colleagues for highlighting this important dimension of care and for bringing the patient experience into the discussion around gene therapy.”
