Husnain Ahmad: How Aortic Stenosis Can Lead to Gastrointestinal Bleeding in Heyde Syndrome
Husnain Ahmad, Medical Officer at St. Raphael’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
”I’m pleased to share that my literature review on Heyde syndrome has been published.
This review explores the association between aortic stenosis and gastrointestinal bleeding due to angiodysplasia, highlighting the underlying pathophysiology involving acquired von Willebrand factor deficiency, along with current diagnostic and management perspectives.
Working on this topic reinforced the importance of recognizing Heyde syndrome as an often underdiagnosed but clinically significant condition, where timely cardiac intervention can be life-changing.
Grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the growing body of medical literature.”
