Khaled Musallam: Earlier Recognition, Better Outcomes in NTDT

Khaled Musallam, Group Chief Research Officer at Burjeel Holdings, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Blood Advances, adding:

”Pleased to share another new Editorial out today in Blood Advances, a journal of the American Society of Hematology: ‘Too little, too late? The burden of delayed care in NTDT.’

A challenge that remains very real in non-transfusion-dependent thalassemia (NTDT) is delayed recognition, diagnosis, and referral to specialist care, with many patients reaching adulthood having already developed serious morbidities.

A reminder that NTDT is not a mild disease and that earlier recognition, specialist referral, and timely intervention can change its trajectory.”
