Nikola Pantic: New ASH ITP Guidelines Transform First-Line Treatment
Nikola Pantic, Committee Member at International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), shared a post on LinkedIn about recent article, published in Blood Advances, adding:
“Based on previous itp guidelines, first line therapy seemed like the only straightforward area, with little variation and few unanswered questions.
Now, the new American Society of Hematology ITP Guideline is bringing a revolution precisely to the first line treatment setting.
The new guideline favors combining corticosteroids with rituximab or TPO RA over corticosteroids alone with the aim to change course of the disease and duration of treatment free response.
Additionally, new treatment options are incorporated into the second line (like BTKi).”
