Pearla Awad: Liposomal Iron Is Better Tolerated, With Fewer Adverse Effects and Lower Constipation Rates
Pearla Awad, Student Council, Cardiology Society Research Officer at RCSI Medical University of Bahrain, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in European Journal of Pediatrics, adding:
”Proud to share our latest publication in the European Journal of Pediatrics:
‘Safety and efficacy of liposomal iron for iron deficiency anemia in pediatric population: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.’
In this study, we analyzed data from four randomized controlled trials involving 454 pediatric patients.
We found that liposomal iron is better tolerated, with fewer adverse effects and lower rates of constipation, while delivering comparable, and in some cases greater, hematologic outcomes compared to conventional oral iron.
Have a read.
This project was a great opportunity to explore an evolving therapeutic approach in pediatric hematology and contribute to the growing evidence supporting liposomal iron formulations. Grateful to all co-authors and collaborators for their contributions and teamwork throughout this project.”
