Sophia Delicou: We Aim to Bridge Laboratory Insights and Clinical Practice for Unstable Hemoglobin Variants
Sophia Delicou, Head of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Unit, Head of the Expertise Center of Hemoglobin Diseases and Their Complications at Hippokrateio General Hospital, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and Aikaterini Poulaki co-authored, published in Hemoglobin, adding:
”I’m pleased to share our recent publication, ‘Unstable Hemoglobin Variants: Molecular Mechanisms, Clinical Phenotypes, and a Practical Diagnostic and Management Approach,’ published in Hemoglobin.
This work provides a comprehensive yet practical overview of unstable hemoglobin variants, focusing on their molecular basis, clinical presentation, diagnostic challenges, and current management strategies.
Our aim was to bridge laboratory insights with real-world clinical practice and support earlier recognition and more accurate diagnosis of these rare conditions.
I’m grateful and especially thankful for the excellent collaboration with Dr. Aikaterini Poulaki.”
