Augustina Isioma Ikusemoro: Strengthening Awareness and Prevention on World Anaemia Awareness Day
Augustina Isioma Ikusemoro, Haematology Specialist at Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”World Anaemia Awareness Day – February 13
Anaemia affects 1 in 4 people globally – yet it is often overlooked.
It is not just ‘low haemoglobin’.
It is reduced oxygen delivery to vital organs – with consequences for children, pregnant women, surgical patients, and workforce productivity.
The good news?
Anaemia is detectable, treatable, and preventable.
Today is a reminder to:
- Prioritize haemoglobin screening
- Address iron deficiency early
- Strengthen prevention strategies
Anaemia should not be normalized.”
