Marty Pack: Increased Mortality and Complications in Stroke Patients with COVID-19
Marty Pack, Founder and Creative Producer of Wail of a Tale Productions, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A recent study published in Frontiers in Medicine found that COVID-19 significantly worsens outcomes in patients hospitalized with ischemic stroke – even after adjusting for age and comorbidities.
Compared to non-COVID patients, those with COVID-19 had:
- Higher pneumonia rates (54% vs 11%)
- Increased cognitive impairment
- Nearly 3× higher in-hospital mortality
- Longer hospital stays
The findings underscore the need for intensified respiratory and neurologic monitoring during infectious surges.”
