Jeyaraj Pandian: Stroke Is No Longer an Inevitable Sentence to Death or Lifelong Disability
Jeyaraj Pandian, President of World Stroke Organization, reposted from World Stroke Organization‘s on LinkedIn:
”Stroke is no longer an inevitable sentence to death or lifelong disability.
Today, stroke is preventable, treatable, and recoverable – but only where organized, evidence‑based stroke services are in place.
The upcoming World Health Assembly represents a historic opportunity.
By adopting the new WHO resolution on stroke, Member States can commit to strengthening the entire stroke care continuum, aligned with universal health coverage.
The science is clear. The solutions exist. The time to act is now.
We call on all governments to support this resolution and translate it into action – for patients, families, and societies worldwide.”
Quoting World Stroke Organization‘s post:
”Three decades ago, stroke was inevitably either the end of life or the beginning of life constrained by disability.
Not anymore.
Thanks to major advances at every stage of care, stroke is:
- Preventable
- Treatable
- Recoverable
But only if we make organized services available to all.
This World Health Assembly, country leaders have a chance to reduce the burden of stroke at home and across borders.
THE TIME IS NOW.
Support the new resolution on stroke and set a clear path to action.
