Andrew Lee: Examining Rare Clotting Disorders After Adenovirus-Based COVID-19 Vaccination

Andrew Lee, Consultant Epidemiologist at LCP Health Analytics, shared a post on LinkedIn about about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Vaccine, adding:

“Delighted to share this recent publication in Vaccine, examining the the real-world association of an adenovirus based COVID-19 vaccine with a rare clotting disorder.

The comparison involved:

  • Four datasets across three countries
  • more than 5 million total individuals
  • 3 distinct comparator groups

Methodological highlights included the use of QBA and negative control outcomes as canaries in the unmeasured confounder coalmine, mechanisms to account for substantial informative censoring, and the use of a supplementary case validation to calculate PPV adjusted incidence rate ratios.

Thanks to Deborah Layton, as well as Joan Forns, Susana Perez-Gutthann and the rest of the RTI team for their sagely guidance in this collaboration.”
