Cihan Ay: From First Oral Presentation to Pro and Con Debate – A 20-Year EHA Journey

”Twenty years ago, I attended my very first European Hematology Association (EHA) Congress in Amsterdam.
I was a medical student then, presenting my very first abstract—and, to my great excitement, giving my first oral presentation.
This week in Stockholm, exactly 20 years later, I had the privilege of returning to EHA as an invited speaker, sharing the stage with my highly esteemed colleague Nick van Es in a Pro and Con debate, chaired by the renowned Anna Falanga.
It was one of those moments that makes you pause and reflect.
Looking back at that young student in Amsterdam, I could never have imagined the journey ahead.
I am deeply grateful for the mentors, colleagues, collaborators, and friends who have been part of this path.
What a privilege it is to contribute to a field that continues to inspire me every day.
A humbling, joyful, and slightly emotional full-circle moment.”
