Vrisha Shah: Exploring Transgenic Mouse Models for Pregnancy Outcomes at ISTH 2026
Vrisha Shah, MSc Candidate in Anatomical Sciences, Researcher in Platelet-type von Willebrand Disease and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Attending the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) Congress 2026 in Paris was an incredible opportunity to present my research and connect with researchers from around the world.
My poster explored how platelet GPIbα dysfunction influences placental development and pregnancy outcomes using transgenic mouse models, with the goal of better understanding the role of platelet dysfunction in abnormal placental structure and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Presenting this work led to thoughtful discussions and valuable feedback that will help guide the next steps of the project.
Beyond presenting my research, the congress was an inspiring opportunity to learn from experts in thrombosis, hemostasis, and vascular biology, discover the latest advances in the field, and gain new perspectives on translational research and scientific collaboration.
A special thank you to my supervisor, Dr. Maha Othman, for her mentorship, encouragement, and continued support. This experience would not have been possible without her guidance, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this research.
Thank you as well to everyone who stopped by my poster, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their insights.
I’m excited to continue building on this work as I begin my MSc in Anatomical Sciences at Queen’s University.”
