Christian Heiss։ New Evidence on Drug-Coated Technologies in Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia
Christian Heiss, Associate Head of Medical School (Research and Innovation) at the University of Surrey, Professor and NHS Consultant in Interventional Cardiovascular Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in medRxiv, adding:
”Excited to share our new medRxiv preprint on drug-coated devices in chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI).
In a real-world cohort of patients undergoing infrainguinal endovascular therapy, drug-coated device use was not associated with increased adjusted 1-year mortality and was associated with improved wound healing — a patient-relevant outcome that may capture early clinical benefit better than revascularization or amputation endpoints alone.
Exploratory analyses also suggested favourable outcomes with sirolimus-coated balloons, supporting the need for dedicated comparative studies of limus-based technologies in CLTI.
As always, this is a preprint and has not yet undergone peer review.”
