Wolfgang Miesbach: Cognitive Impairment in aPL-Positive Patients

Wolfgang Miesbach, Professor of Medicine at Frankfurt University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Cognitive impairment in aPL-positive patients.

An important presentation by Gustavo Balbi and colleagues on the real-world recognition and management of cognitive impairment in patients with antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL).

Clinicians most frequently associated aPL with depression, anxiety, impaired attention, slower processing speed, and memory or executive dysfunction.

Yet routine cognitive screening remains uncommon – particularly in patients without stroke and TIA or overt symptoms.

Stronger collaboration between APS specialists, cognitive neurologists, and neuropsychologists is urgently needed to improve recognition, assessment, and care.”
