Targeting Factor XI to Reduce Thrombosis Without Compromising Hemostasis – ISTH
International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Tzu-Fei Wang et al, adding:
“Can anticoagulation prevent thrombosis while reducing the burden of bleeding?
That question is driving growing interest in factor XI (FXI) and factor XIa (FXIa) inhibitors, an investigational class of anticoagulants designed to attenuate thrombosis while potentially preserving physiologic hemostasis.
A new article published in RPTH Journal examines how FXI/FXIa inhibition could address unmet anticoagulation needs in patient populations where balancing thrombosis and bleeding risk can be particularly challenging.
The authors explore emerging evidence across populations including patients with:
- Atrial fibrillation
- Cancer associated thrombosis
- Ischemic stroke
- Chronic kidney disease”
