Amber Paratore Sanchez: A Novel Double-Draw Approach to Apheresis Access
Amber Paratore Sanchez, Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of California, San Diego Medical Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Journal of Clinical Apheresis, adding:
”Happy to share our description in JCA of a novel approach to peripheral access for apheresis when inlet pressure alarms could not be overcome with usual conservative measures: we implemented a novel ‘double-draw’ approach – placing a second IV draw line connected to the initial draw access (either port or IV) that allowed completion of procedures without abandonment of the initial draw line.
When you work with a creative and passionate team, like our UCSD Apheresis nurses, to make a difference in patients lives, it makes coming to work every day a true joy and privilege.”
