Vanessa Carvalho: New Research on Platelet-Derived Extracellular Vesicles in Preeclampsia
Vanessa Carvalho, Research Scientist at University College Dublin, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, adding:
”And its live!
I’m absolutely delighted to share the publication of my first first-author paper, ‘Differential platelet-derived extracellular vesicle signatures in Preeclampsia with and without Intrauterine Growth Restriction,’ in Research and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis (RPTH)!
Our research explores differences in activated platelet-derived extracellular vesicle (EV) profiles between pregnancies affected by preeclampsia with and without intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). Although these conditions can overlap clinically, they have complex and distinct pathophysiological features that we are still working to understand.
Our findings provide new insights into differences in platelet-derived EV signatures between these groups, contributing to our understanding of the underlying biology and helping inform future research into potential approaches to clinical management.
Almost two years in the making, this paper represents a tremendous amount of work, collaboration, and dedication from an incredible team. It also marks an exciting milestone for AI PREMie, our flagship project, and the beginning of what we hope will be many more contributions to this field.
To all the clinicians, clinical research nurses, data scientists, industry partners, and research colleagues who contributed to this work in so many different ways: thank you, from the bottom of my heart. This achievement would not have been possible without your expertise, commitment, and support.
And ultimately, this is what motivates me to keep going: contributing to research that advances our understanding of pregnancy complications and, hopefully, helps make the journey a little less uncertain for future families.
One paper down, many more discoveries to pursue!”
