Abinash Choudhury: A Mother’s Advocacy Transforming Hemophilia Care in Nigeria
Abinash Choudhury, Associate Scientific Writer at Sanofi Global Hub, shared on LinkedIn:
”In Nigeria, undiagnosed bleeding disorders have historically led to deaths that went unrecorded.
For Megan Adediran Founder and Executive Director, Haemophilia Foundation of Nigeria, that reality became personal when her sons were diagnosed with Hemophilia A and the resources simply were not there.
So, she built them.
‘The love of a mother was my only motivation. I just wanted my son[s] to live.’
‘What started as a mother’s fight became the Haemophilia Foundation of Nigeria, directly confronting the systemic barriers that leave so many without access to diagnosis or care.’
This World Hemophilia Day, Megan‘s story reminds us why this year’s theme, ‘Diagnosis, first step to care,’ is a challenge to everyone working across health systems, policy, and advocacy to close the gaps that still exist.
We are proud to partner with the World Federation of Hemophilia to advance equitable, sustainable access to care for people with hemophilia globally.
See how we are working to make that a reality.”
