Anuoluwapo Oladunjoye: Every Blood Film Has a Story to Tell

Anuoluwapo Oladunjoye, Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science at Al-hikmah University, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Every blood film has a story to tell.

Behind every laboratory result is a population of cells with unique characteristics waiting to be observed.

These images were captured from a peripheral blood film during routine microscopic examination. What appears to be a simple thin layer of blood can reveal remarkable details about red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets—details that may provide essential diagnostic clues.

The microscope remains one of the most powerful tools in hematology because morphology often complements and strengthens analytical findings. Even in an era of advanced automation, careful blood film review continues to provide valuable insights that support accurate laboratory interpretation and patient care.

Moments like these remind me why blood film examination remains a critical component of quality laboratory practice.

Swipe through the images to explore the cellular landscape revealed by a thin film.

Over to my fellow laboratory professionals, hematologists, and students:

‘What findings stand out to you in these slides, and what do you think they could indicate?’

Drop your observations in the comments.”
