“It was an honor to present our poster, The Impact of Sponsored Testing Programs on the Pediatric Hemophilia A Population: A Retrospective Chart Review at the Annual Bleeding Disorders Conference this year!
Spoiler alert: sponsored testing programs have a positive impact on the hemophilia population and can help bridge gaps in access to genetic testing.
Kudos to Emory University Genetic Counseling Training Program FOCUS project mentee and newly minted GC Allie Manson, MMSc, GC on leading this project!
It felt almost silly for me to be the one bringing the poster to the conference, as Allie navigated the methodology, data collection, and data analysis with independence and dedication. Watching her take ownership of this project and grow as a researcher and genetic counselor has been incredibly rewarding.
Mentorship and education are such important elements of my professional identity, and it is always a pleasure to work with motivated students who are curious, hardworking, and passionate about genetic counseling and testing.
I am proud of the work we did on this project (along with my co mentor Lucas Lopez, MMSc, LCGC ) and I look forward to a future of mentoring the next generation of genetic counselors while contributing to research that improves access and outcomes for people and families navigating genetic testing or living with rare diseases.”
