Eugene Tang: Addressing the Hidden Challenges of Stroke Recovery
Eugene Tang, NIHR RRDN NENC Primary Care Settings Lead at NIHR Research Delivery Network, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Family Practice, adding:
”New publication alert
Delighted to share our latest paper in Family Practice on post‑stroke care in primary and community settings led by Hannah Ravenhall on a NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) summer student internship:
Stroke is rightly seen as an emergency, hospital‑led specialty, but most of the ongoing care for stroke survivors actually happens in primary care and the community.
We’re pretty good at supporting physical recovery, but far less equipped to address the hidden consequences namely cognitive changes, mood, fatigue and the impact on everyday life post-stroke.
Our work calls for more structured, holistic primary care interventions in the community that addresses and consider these hidden difficulties.
Huge thanks to co-authors including Hannah Ravenhall, Dr Serena Sabatini, Rhiannon De Ivey, Linda Errington, Rachael Raw, Faye Tabone and Jacob Brain, Emily Symington and Khalifa Mohammed.”
