Hema Punjani Vitha: Deep Vein Thrombosis vs Pulmonary Embolism

Hema Punjani Vitha, Registered Nurse at Margeno Asia CIMS Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT):

A blood clot that forms in a deep vein, usually in the legs. Common signs include unilateral leg swelling, pain, warmth, and redness.

Pulmonary Embolism (PE):

A blockage in a pulmonary artery, usually caused by a clot that breaks off from a DVT and travels to the lungs.

Common signs include sudden shortness of breath, chest pain, tachycardia, and low oxygen levels.”
