Jaromir Vajter: Bleeding Risks and Anticoagulation After ECPR
Jaromir Vajter, Director of Extracorporeal life support center University hospital in Motol at Charles University, 2nd Faculty of Medicine and Faculty Hospital Motol, Prague, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Presenting our study on traumatic and haemorrhagic findings after ECPR at ECPR Prague School 2026.
We found haemorrhagic CT findings in 41 percent of patients, including active bleeding in 18 percent.
Is it time to rethink anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapy after ECPR?
Could we significantly reduce, or even temporarily withhold, these treatments in selected patients at high bleeding risk?
An important question that deserves further research, especially when balancing bleeding against circuit and stent thrombosis.”
