“60ish y/o M with a history of IVC filter years ago.
This was known to be thrombosed.
He has been admitted to the hospital multiple times for IV antibiotics for lower extremity cellulitis.
In the past, he was told there were no options to treat his IVC occlusion other than continue his blood thinners.
As an outpatient, both iliac veins and the IVC were re-canalized and stented with Medtronic Abre.
This resulted in brisk contrast drainage bilaterally. He went home the same day.
Great case demonstrating how it is essentially never too late to intervene on chronic venous obstructions.
Get those filters out before they cause this!”
