Maha Othman: Guest Editing a Landmark STH Special Issue on the Role of Red Blood Cells in Hemostasis and Thrombosis
Maha Othman, Editor-in-Chief of Current Opinion in Hematology Journal, Research Co-Lead at CanVECTOR Research Network, shared on LinkedIn:
”Delighted to see this outstanding special issue of Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis completed.
The articles in this collection highlight the important contribution of red blood cells to blood clotting—an area that has historically received less attention than it deserves.
The implications for patient care are substantial, two examples are: anemia and thrombosis in cancer to understanding the action of TXA in anemic patients with heavy menstrual bleeding and beyond.
Most of all, I am proud to have shared the Guest Editor role with one of my brilliant mentees, Regan Bucciol, a rising-star clinician-scientist with a very bright future.
Congratulations to all the authors and contributors; experts in the field and early careers who made this collection possible.
Special thanks and congrats to a few of my mentees who led or contributed to this collection George Ilbawi, Armita Zandi, Alyssa Qian and Isabelle Kern.
And to our amazing editor in chief and leader and mentor Emmanuel J Favaloro and the highly dedicated entire STH editorial team!”
