Mohamed Samier: DVT vs PE – Nursing Comparison Guide

Mohamed Samier, Registered Nurse at Bassam Medical Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis): Clot in a deep vein, usually the leg – unilateral swelling, warmth, pain and redness.

PE (Pulmonary Embolism): Clot travels to the lungs – sudden dyspnea, pleuritic chest pain, tachycardia and hemoptysis.

Diagnosis: DVT – D-dimer and venous ultrasound | PE – CTPA and D-dimer and ABG/V/Q scan.

Treatment: Anticoagulation is key; PE may require oxygen, thrombolysis in selected cases and hemodynamic support.”Mohamed Samier
