Munira Borhany: Latest Advances in JAK Inhibitors for Myelofibrosis
Munira Borhany, Hematologist/Hemato‐oncologist at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital and Midciti Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At the annual Pakistan Society of Haematology (PSH) Conference (Haemcon 2026), I was invited to chair a session on Coagulation Disorders and to deliver a talk on ‘JAK Inhibitors in Myelofibrosis: Recent Updates and Treatment Sequencing.’
My presentation explored:
- Comparative insights into the four FDA-approved JAK inhibitors in myelofibrosis
- Evolving treatment strategies and recent advances
- NCCN guideline recommendations for low- versus high-risk disease
- Practical management of anemia and thrombocytopenia
- Real-world approaches to treatment sequencing
- Insights from our local PMF data, including improvements in anemia and thrombocytopenia
Beyond the scientific discussions, I had the privilege of presenting the annual financial and developmental report in my capacity as the Secretary and Treasurer of the Pakistan Society of Haematology, highlighting the society’s academic initiatives, collaborations, and vision for advancing haematology care and research.
It was inspiring to exchange ideas with colleagues on how personalised therapy and evidence-based sequencing can meaningfully improve outcomes and quality of life for patients living with myelofibrosis.
I am grateful to the organisers, participants, and fellow haematologists for the engaging discussions, shared insights, and ongoing commitment to advancing patient care.”
