Rana Al-Hrout, Clinical Pathology-Hematology Specialist at Ministry of Health – Jordan, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The Evolving ITP Treatment Landscape – 2026
The management of Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) continues to evolve toward more individualized and patient-centered treatment strategies.
Key developments include:
- Corticosteroids: Emphasis on short treatment courses and minimizing long-term exposure.
- Combination therapy: Earlier consideration of TPO-receptor agonists and Rituximab in selected patients.
- Targeted therapies: Expanding treatment options, including SYK and BTK inhibitors.
- Patient-centered care: Focusing on bleeding prevention, treatment burden, and quality of life.
The key message:
Successful ITP management goes beyond platelet counts. It aims for sustainable disease control and improved patient outcomes.”
