Rebekah Bradford: A More Affordable Option for Xarelto
Rebekah Bradford, Product Marketing Manager at Energy Exemplar, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“If you’ve ever picked up a Xarelto prescription, you already know the feeling at the register.
You brace yourself.
I’ve been on and off blood thinners since surviving a bilateral pulmonary embolism, blood clots in the lungs.
Long flights, medication changes, there’s always a reason they are in my toolkit. And every time, I know what that refill would cost.
Recently my situation changed. Blood thinners went from occasional to monthly.
Which meant that cost went from occasional to monthly too. I did the math in my head and winced.
Then I went to pick up my prescription.
Generic rivaroxaban is here.
The FDA approved the first generics in 2025, and more strengths have rolled out since.
My refill cost a fraction of what I had budgeted for.
For the blood clot community, this is a big deal. Cost is one of the reasons people skip doses or stretch prescriptions, and with anticoagulants, that’s dangerous.
So if you’re on Xarelto, or you love someone who is: ask your doctor or pharmacist whether the generic is an option for your dose.
One conversation could take a serious bite out of that monthly cost.
And whether or not blood thinners are part of your life, take a minute to learn the signs and symptoms of blood clots.
The National Blood Clot Alliance is a great place to start. It’s knowledge you hope you never need.
Survivors think about this every day. If you’re one of them, you know exactly what I mean. And if this could help someone you love, pass it along.”
