Sheila Cristina Ouriques Martins Is Grateful to Be Among The Legends Who Changed The Reality of Stroke Worldwide
Sheila Cristina Ouriques Martins, Professor at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sol, shared on LinkedIn:
”Blessed and deeply grateful for the opportunity to be among these legends who profoundly studied and shaped what we now call Vascular Neurology.
This remarkable group envisioned what needed to be done to change the reality of stroke worldwide — and had the courage to think, test, and prove the benefits of diagnostic techniques and new treatments that today make a tremendous difference in people’s lives around the globe (missing here Vladimir Hachinsky, Werner Hacke and Craig Anderson).
There has been extraordinary progress since the creation of CT scanning and the discovery of aspirin’s benefit, to what we now know as modern stroke prevention, reperfusion therapies, advanced imaging technology, and telemedicine — expanding access to life-saving treatments with equity across the world.
Great and influential global societies emerged from this vision, especially World Stroke Organization, built with an inclusive mindset and a mission to implement the best care for all — regardless of country, race, religion, or social class.
It is an immense honor and source of pride to be part of this transformative group — these legends who continue to shape the modern history of stroke care worldwide.”
