William Aird: Iron Deficiency vs. Inflammation – Look at the Minivans
William Aird, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, shared a post on X:
“Same minivans, different physiology
The minivan metaphor I introduced in response to a recent poll turns out to be useful for more than understanding TIBC.
Both iron deficiency and inflammation can produce:
- Low serum iron
- Low TSAT
But look at the minivans.”
