Ana Pedrero Gil: A New Approach to Post-Tonsillectomy Hemorrhage
Ana Pedrero Gil, Anesthesiologist at Igualada University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Jennifer Lavin et al., published in The Laryngoscope, adding:
“Due to the high number of tonsillectomies performed in children, post- tonsillectomy hemorrhage represents a significant cause of morbidity and is
a frequent reason for unanticipated returns to the operating room in pediatric patients.
Such interventions subject patients to additional anesthetic risks and extend the duration of analgesic requirements. In recent years, TXA has emerged as a non- invasive strategy to treat PTH, and studies have previously demonstrated associated reductions in need for operative control.”
