Børge Nordestgaard: Lp(a) Remains a Risk Factor Across the Lifespan

Børge Nordestgaard, Professor and Chief Physician at Herlev og Gentofte Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Circulation, adding:

”In a contemporary primary prevention cohort (Copenhagen General Populatuion Study), the relative risk increase of ASCVD with higher Lp(a) levels was similar for individuals aged older (aged 70–100 years) and younger (aged 20-69 years) individuals, with the highest absolute risk in this older age group.

Written by Janeni Jeevanathan, Peter E. Thomas, Pia R. Kamstrup, and Børge Nordestgaard, and published in Circulation with simultaneous presentation at the 2026 ESC Congress in Munich yesterday.”
