Carolina Contreras Cuevas Shares a Nationwide Study on VTE in PAD
Carolina Contreras Cuevas, Hematologist and Interconsultor at RedSalud CCHC, shared on LinkedIn:
”This nationwide cohort study analyzes how antithrombotic therapy is managed in patients suffering from both peripheral arterial disease and venous thromboembolism.
The research reveals that treatment regimens are highly heterogeneous, highlighting that a considerable proportion of individuals receive both anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents, which increases the risk of serious bleeding.
The authors underscore a troubling lack of clinical uniformity and suggest that many patients are inadequately treated before suffering a venous event.
Ultimately, the purpose of the text is to highlight the urgent need to establish a medical consensus for managing this complex combination of pathologies and thus reduce the high rates of mortality and adverse events observed.”
