Fabiano Cavalcante on Stenting of Stroke Patients with Tandem Carotid Lesions

Fabiano Cavalcante, PHD Candidate at Amsterdam UMC, shared on LinkedIn:

”Should stroke patients with tandem carotid lesions receive stenting during endovascular thrombectomy (EVT)?

And should prior IV thrombolysis influence that decision?

Our new paper from the IRIS collaboration, just published in Stroke, provides further evidence that acute stenting during EVT is safe and beneficial and importantly, that the effect is similar whether patients randomized to receive EVT alone or IVT+EVT.

As we await results from ongoing clinical trials, this study adds meaningful evidence to guide real-world decision-making in acute stroke care.”
