Understanding Natural Anticoagulant Deficiencies – JTH

Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Katarzyna Mayger et al., adding:

“Physiological anticoagulant deficiencies: pathogenesis, diagnosis, and clinical implications

Deficiencies of antithrombin, protein C, and protein S raise thrombosis risk but remain tricky to diagnose.

This review explains current testing, from chromogenic activity assays to free protein S antigen, and the pitfalls of assay variability and treatment interference.

The authors expect multi-gene thrombophilia panels to support more personalized diagnosis as access improves.”
