Natasha Kazi: Early Anticoagulation Linked to Better Outcomes in Acute PE
Natasha Kazi, Medical Specialist at Cura, CEO at DrNatx Recruitment, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Cureus:
“Excited to share recently published research study in PubMed and Cureus:
‘The Effect of Early Anticoagulation Therapy in Acute Pulmonary Embolism: A Retrospective Cohort Study in the Emergency Department.’
Our study highlights the critical impact of initiating anticoagulation therapy within the first two hours of emergency department presentation in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (PE).
Key findings from 345 patients included:
- Significantly lower in-hospital mortality
- Reduced recurrent thromboembolic events
- Fewer ICU admissions
- Shorter hospital stays
- No significant increase in major bleeding risk.
These findings reinforce the importance of rapid diagnosis and early treatment pathways in improving PE outcomes, especially in resource-limited emergency settings.
Grateful to all co-authors and collaborators who contributed to this work.”
