Rolando Claure: Apixaban Shows a More Favorable Benefit Risk Balance in Advanced CKD With AF
Rolando Claure, Member of the Executive Committee at KDIGO, Vice President of Region 3 at SLANH – Latin American Society of Nephrology and Hypertension, Nephrologist at Renal Patient Care Unit (UNAER), shared a post on X about a recent article by Qiaoxi Chen et al, published in JAMA Network Open, adding:
“In advanced non-dialysis CKD with AF, apixaban was linked to lower ischemic stroke but higher major bleeding vs no anticoagulation.
Warfarin – higher bleeding without significant stroke reduction.
Apixaban showed a more favorable benefit–risk balance vs warfarin.”
