Christian Schulze Shares New Data from DANGERSHOCK
Christian Schulze, Professor of Medicine at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, shared on LinkedIn:
”New data from DANGERSHOCK – Delay in mechanical support in pts with cardiogenic shock following AMI results in higher mortality compared to early initiation.
Great team work from the trial investigators.”
Microaxial flow pump (mAFP) support has been shown to improve survival in selected patients with ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock.
This study investigated whether the time interval between symptom onset and randomization affects the survival benefit associated with mAFP use.
The findings aim to clarify the importance of early intervention when considering mechanical circulatory support in this high-risk population.
