Eirini Kontou: Launch of the e-Optimism Research Study to Support Life After TIA and Minor Stroke
Eirini Kontou, Associate Professor at University of Nottingham, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m thrilled to share the launch of our new research study known as e-Optimism!
From 1 January, we officially kicked off this important work funded by Stroke Association.
I’m honoured to be working with the UK’s national stroke charity and leading this research project from my clinical role The Institute of Mental Health alongside Dr Jade Kettlewell.
We’re collaborating with an amazing team based at Newcastle University led by Eugene Tang, colleagues from across the UK and internationally Caroline Watkins, Louise Connell, Dana Wong, Kate Radford, many collaborators, but also our TIA PPI network supported by Kate Horton.
This work is deeply meaningful to me, my passion is driven by supporting people after a TIA or minor diagnosis, in true partnership with people with lived experience, to improve life after stroke.

Huge thanks to the funder and my team for trusting me with this vital research. We’re committed to making a difference for people affected by less severe strokes and their families.”
