Anel Karisik: Do Antidepressants Influence Swallowing Recovery After Acute Ischemic Stroke?
Anel Karisik, Resident in Neurology at Medical University of Innsbruck, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
”Short throwback to ESSD: European Society for Swallowing Disorders Conference in Athens
Great memories – and even better news: our study ‘Antidepressant Intake and Recovery of Dysphagia After Acute Ischemic Stroke’ is now published in Stroke!
Building on prior research in long-term dysphagia management, we investigated whether antidepressant use is associated with swallowing recovery after acute ischemic stroke.
The findings add another important piece to understanding how we can better support functional recovery beyond the hyperacute phase.
Grateful for the inspiring discussions back then and for the amazing team behind this work.”
