Dirk Sibbing: Why CYP2C19 Genetics Matter in Clopidogrel Response

“Clopidogrel – 2025 ACC/AHA/ACEP/NAEMSP/SCAI ACS Guidelines
While the FDA warning on CYP2C19*2 and reduced response to clopidogrel is clinically highly relevant and the warning itself is still in place, recent AHA/ACC 2025 ACS guidelines missed on providing guidance here for clinicians.
We did so in our commentary in JAHA — Journal of the American Heart Association by providing information and guidance on antiplatelet treatment with clopidogrel.
Genetics matter and may have a significant impact – especially for antiplatelet treatment during and after PCI.”
