Ama Ameyaw: Beginning My Research Journey in HIT and Platelet Immunology at the Wen Lab

Ama Ameyaw, PhD Student in Microbiology and Immunology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, shared on LinkedIn:

”A little overdue, but I’m excited to share that about three months ago, I officially joined the Wen Lab at the Versiti Blood Research Institute as my dissertation lab in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology.

Since joining the lab, I’ve had the opportunity to begin working on a project investigating bacterial specificity of platelet-activating antibodies in Heparin-Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT).

I also recently presented some of my beginning work at the IDP End of Year Symposium, my first presentation since joining the lab.

I’m incredibly grateful for the mentorship and guidance of Dr. Renren Wen, as well as the support from everyone in the Wen and Wang Labs.

I’ve already learned so much working in such a collaborative environment, and I look forward to continuing my growth as a scientist and researcher.

Grateful for this opportunity and excited for what’s ahead!”
