Aravind Palraj: Antiphospholipid Syndrome is not Just ‘Start Warfarin and Follow INR’
Aravind Palraj, Senior Resident in Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at Madras Medical College, shared a post on X:
“Antiphospholipid Syndrome is not just ‘start warfarin and follow INR.’
Management depends on:
- Thrombosis type (arterial vs venous)
- Obstetric profile
- Antibody pattern (triple-positive risk)
- Recurrent events
Triple-positive APS – Avoid DOACs Recurrent arterial events – Consider higher INR target Catastrophic APS – Anticoagulation plus steroids plus PLEX plus IVIG APS care is risk-stratified medicine.”
