Dr. Rucha Patil Brings Indian Haemophilia Research to the Forefront at ISTH 2026 – ICMR-NIRBID
ICMR-NIRBID shared a post on LinkedIn:
”We are delighted to share that Dr. Rucha Patil, Scientist D, represented ICMR-NIRBID at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) 2026 Congress, held from 11–15 July 2026 in Paris, France—one of the world’s foremost scientific forums dedicated to thrombosis, haemostasis, and bleeding disorders.
Dr. Patil delivered an oral presentation on real-world evidence from 773 patients across India, evaluating different emicizumab dosing regimens for haemophilia care.
The study received the prestigious Reach the World Travel Award and attracted significant appreciation from the international scientific community, including recognition from Brian O’Mahony, Chief Executive of the Irish Haemophilia Society, and Dr. Heghine Khachatryan, Editor-in-Chief of Hemostasis Today.
She also presented two scientific posters featuring:
- A novel Point-of-Care Test (POCT) for rapid detection of Factor VIII inhibitors.
- The completed results of an internationally recognised randomised controlled trial comparing low-dose versus standard-dose emicizumab prophylaxis.
In addition, Dr. Patil participated in a collaborative meeting organised by the Novo Nordisk Haemophilia & Haemoglobinopathies Foundation (NNHF) with researchers from Brazil and Senegal to discuss the implementation of point-of-care diagnostics for Haemophilia A and von Willebrand disease in resource-constrained settings.
Her participation not only showcased ICMR‘s research excellence on a global platform but also strengthened international collaborations aimed at improving the diagnosis and management of inherited bleeding disorders.
We congratulate Dr. Rucha Patil on this outstanding achievement and for advancing India’s contribution to global biomedical research.”
