Andres Alberto Mercado Pompa: External Validation of Prognostic Risk Scores in Cerebral Venous Thrombosis

Andres Alberto Mercado Pompa, Concussion Management at Liga Bancomer MX, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colloagues co-authored, published in Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, adding:

Happy to share the results of an exciting international collaboration:

‘Performance of Prognostic Risk Scores in Cerebral Venous Thrombosis: External Validation in the CLOT-VENUS Registry.’

In the CLOT-VENUS Registry, we externally evaluated the performance of three prognostic models for cerebral venous thrombosis:

ISCVT-RS, CVT-GS, and IN-REvASC, examining their discrimination, calibration, and accuracy.

We found moderate discriminatory performance across the evaluated prognostic scores, without significant differences between models, highlighting both their potential utility and the need for further refinement of prognostic tools in CVT.

I am especially grateful to Dr. Antonio Arauz, Dr. Santiago Ortega, and his team at the University of Iowa for the opportunity to collaborate on this project, as well as to all the investigators who contributed to the study.

Free access until November 1, 2026.”
