“How to Prevent Hemolysis During Blood Collection
To prevent hemolysis during blood collection, it is essential to use an appropriate needle size, apply gentle suction, avoid keeping the tourniquet on for too long, and release it as soon as blood flow begins.
After collection, tubes should be mixed only by gentle inversion and never shaken, and blood should not be forcefully transferred from the syringe into the tube.
Careful sample handling ensures accurate and reliable laboratory results.”
