Anita Brikman: PPTA Explores India’s Growing Plasma-Derived Medicines Industry
Anita Brikman, President and CEO of the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA), shared on LinkedIn:
”A primary objective of Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) time in India was to learn more about the growing number of companies manufacturing plasma-derived medicines for the patients who rely on them.
Our first stop on this leg of the journey was at Intas Pharmaceuticals in Ahmedabad, also known as Accord Healthcare outside of India.
The organization is expanding its fractionation capacity and global footprint.
Thank you Binish Chudgar, Ritesh Saraf and Suma Ray for sharing your vision of the company’s growth trajectory.
Then we were off to biotech hub Hyderabad, where we toured the manufacturing facility of Hetero Plasma; Dr Ashok Kumar Nuvula outlied the various steps in the fractionation process utilized to ensure safety and quality, as well as Hetero‘s expansion plans for the future.
On our final day, Joshua Penrod, Dr. Ranjeet Ajmani and I were able to fit in visits with two additional organizations: Promea Therapeutics (thank you to Dr. Rajesh Tummuru and Murali Tummuru); as well as Ichor Biologics, where Anand Sudini, Pranay Reddy Sudini and Ch. Mao Manohar expressed their enthusiasm to collaborate with PPTA and the global plasma community.
As our association continues to grow and evolve… new connections and partnerships in India will play a critical role in advancing our shared mission to serve more patients around the world.”
