“Advancing Regional Citrate Anticoagulation in CRRT — from experience to implementation.
It was a privilege to be part of the Vantive Advisory Board on Citrate Anticoagulation, held in Hyderabad, focusing on ‘Regional Citrate Anticoagulation in CRRT – 37 years of evolution and the road ahead for India.’
The meeting brought together experienced clinicians and experts to discuss an important question: How do we move beyond the established evidence and experience with RCA to develop robust, practical and sustainable RCA programs across India?
The discussions touched upon several aspects of implementing RCA in real-world practice — protocol development, monitoring, safety, troubleshooting, training and standardisation — while also recognising the diversity of clinical settings across the country.
What made the meeting particularly valuable was the opportunity to exchange experiences, understand the challenges faced at different centres and explore practical ways of making RCA more accessible and reproducible.
A special thanks to Dr. Rajasekara Chakravarthi, chairperson, and to the distinguished experts Prof. Ravindra Mehta, Prof. Ashita Tolwani and Dr. Manish Kaushik for their insights and engaging discussions.
The journey of RCA has evolved considerably over the past 37 years. The next step is to translate that experience into structured, safe and scalable practice in India.
