Gianluca Franceschini: Immersive Virtual Reality in Preoperative Care
Gianluca Franceschini, Director of the Research and Training Center on Integrated Therapies in Breast Neoplasms, Full Professor of General Surgery and Director of the Master’s Program in Integrated Therapies for Female Oncological Pathologies at Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Sometimes innovation is born from a single encounter…
In this case, from a patient and her need to face one of the most difficult moments: entering the operating room.
From this came the use of immersive virtual reality to support her, reduce panic, and restore a sense of control.
Fear is not eliminated – it is experienced and overcome – and today we can do so even before entering the operating room.
This is a single episode, but also a clear signal: technology can make care even more human.
Always moving forward… always by our patients’ side!”
